Safe, gentle and non-intrusive, Reiki flows and always goes where it is needed to restore our energy and general wellbeing to a calm and balanced state. The client is required to lie fully clothed on a massage table. With gentle hand movements placed on or just above the body, the practitioner facilitates removal of energy blocks creating flow which encourages healing. Treatments are deeply relaxing and restorative. Some clients feel a variety of sensations such as cool, heat, tingling, pulsing, lightness or heaviness. Others see vibrant colours. All are perfectly normal responses. You may even fall asleep (and I won’t be offended one bit). When I was struggling to make some major adjustments, these gentle therapies helped to restore balance in my life. The improvement to my emotional, mental and physical health was so remarkable that I knew I wanted to help others in the same way by studying to become a practitioner. I took a little detour after deciding to train in the same therapies for animals plus enrol in a Diploma course in Animal Healing. The well-documented side effects of his medications worried me. There was no doubt he needed them but I wanted to help manage his seizures and support his recovery in a safe, natural way. By introducing complementary therapies and remedies, I hoped to gradually reduce the dosage of his prescription drugs. I sensed that the calming, meditative effects of Reiki and the balancing effects of Bach remedies could help Rex as they had helped me. And of course, they did! Good nutrition and the healing properties of natural remedies including medicinal herbs were subject areas of the Diploma course which also helped his overall health. Because of Rex, my life path has completely changed in the best possible way and I’m so grateful for his trust. Dr Bach’s spaniel, Lulu, received her master’s remedies from time to time as did many of the Bach Centre cats. In modern settings, the remedies are particularly helpful for rescue animals going to a new home. Some may have endured mistreatment, neglect or sadly, worse.
